You may explore the beginning steps of the city of Oulu in Linnansaari, located near the city centre. Traces of Oulu Castle can be seen in the island’s landform and buildings. Only a former chancellery cellar and a piece of rampart remains of the castle which was built in the 1600s today. On top of the cellar stands a magnificent observation tower of the Oulu Seafaring School built in 1875, in which the Tähtitorni Café is housed today. Linnansaari park is also a great location for a picnic.

The Oulu Castle Cellar is open when the Tähtitorni Café is open. You can see the opening hours on the Tähtitorni Café Facebook page (facebook.fi).
