Oulu Castle Cellar is located in Linnansaari in front of the city centre.

BY FOOT

The easiest way to get to Oulu Castle Cellar is on foot.

There are direct pedestrian paths via bridges to Linnansaari from the Southern direction, from the city centre, and from the Northern direction, from Raatti. It is also possible to walk under the Merikoski bridge from the direction of Ainolanpuisto.

Coming from the railway station: first take Asemakatu and then follow Ojakatu towards the beach and cross the pedestrian bridge over Pokkisenväylä to Linnansaari.

 

BY BICYLE

Oulu region’s main cycle path North from the city centre runs through Linnansaari. It is possible to reach Linnansaari by following Linnabaana, a part of the Baana cycle path network, from the direction of the city centre and from the North. Cycle path network (oulunliikenne.fi).

There are bicycle racks outside the Oulu Castle Cellar. It is not possible to lock your bicycle frame into the rack.

 

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Thanks to the central location of Linnansaari, it is possible to get close to Oulu Castle Cellar by public transportation. The closest bus stops are: Raatti E, Pokkitörmö, and Kaupungintalo P. See the bus schedules and routes from the Oulu Public Transport website (oulunjoukkoliikenne.fi).

 

BY CAR

The nearest parking spaces are located right next to the cellar. There are about eight spaces. It is only possible to enter by car when driving from the Northern direction via Merikoskenkatu. Please note that when driving from the Southern direction it is not possible to turn to the cellar parking lot.

There are a lot of free parking spaces in Raatti Island right next to Linnansaari. You may drive to the Raatti parking lot via Merikoskenkatu.

 

Accessibility

Oulu Castle Cellar is not entirely accessible. Some steer stairs have to be descended to enter the cellar. There is no handrail by the stairs.

Guide dogs are welcome in the cellar.

There are stairs that lead to the top of the rampart from both ends.

 

TOILET

Toilets are located in the Tähtitorni Café facilities.
